General announcement from the Student Sustainability Collective: Sign the A.S. Petitions to Ban Bottled Water and Styrofoam.
It is estimated that 3 Liters of water are used to produce 1 Liter of Bottled Water, often times bottled water has lower standards for health safety than tap water and most bottled water is filtered tap water. It is also estimated that 17 million barrels of oil are used in the production of bottled water each year not to mention the transportation of these water bottles. Tap water is nearly free, don't support the privatization of water, water is a right not a privilege.

Styrofoam contains polystyrene plastic, which represents a substantial proportion of solid waste generated by our campus and is composed of chemicals that are proven to be harmful to humans and the environment, support the ban of bottled water and Styrofoam on the UCSD campus by accessing the petitions below.
