CALPIRG

CALPIRG works to get students more involved in their community on a wide range of issues from hunger and homelessness, student debt, healthcare, to protecting the environment. The group runs intern classes and teaches students valuable life skills. Last quarter one of their victories was getting the healthcare bill passed that will allow students to stay on their parents health insurance until they are 26, as well as, increasing federal loans for higher education while cutting interest rates. They also worked for the passing of a law declaring La Jolla Shores a Marine Protected Area, as well as, spent spring break promoting a state wide Styrofoam ban. For more information of what students worked on last quarter visit http://www.calpirgstudents.org.

OurEarth.org, Durham, North Carolina

This summer, join the OurEarth.org community. This is a chance to work on a number of diverse environmental projects, be in a team with students from other colleges, earn course credit, and because OurEarth.org is still a young organization, this is an opportunity to join on the ground floor of an up-and-coming initiative. This means that you can take on leadership roles and, if you choose, have responsibilities that almost no other internships can offer which can certainly be useful on a resume. Additionally, OurEarth.org involves over 60 environmental professionals, experts, and undergraduate and graduate students from around the country so this is opportunity to begin networking for a future environmental career. Lastly, for added flexibility, all work is done remotely so you can work from your home, campus, or anywhere else, yet you will still have very frequent contact with the OurEarth.org leadership and other interns via conference calls, email, webinars, and other electronic mediums.
OurEarth.org is a national, 501(c)3 non-profit organization and grassroots initiative that intends to completely transform the way environmental programs, activities, and information are found on the internet so that the public can become more proactive in protecting the environment. If you might be interested in an internship, please visit our website (http://www.OurEarth.org/), review the links below (brochure and application), and act quickly since admission is done on a rolling basis. If you have any questions, please contact John Ullman at (410) 878 - 6485 or jgu@duke.edu, to get additional information. OurEarth.org Brochure: http://www.ourearth.org/students/OurEarth.pdf

Environmental Internship at OurEarth.org

Are you looking for an environmental internship or are you interested in volunteering with an environmental organization this summer? If so, then consider joining the OurEarth.org community. OurEarth.org is a grassroots initiative that intends to completely transform the way environmental programs, activities, and information is found on the internet so that the public can become more proactive in protecting the environment.

OurEarth.org is a national 501(c)3 non-profit organization and it still has internships available for the summer. Internships are unpaid but students can receive course credit if they have their own faculty advisor. Students that do not have enough time to commit to an internship but would still like to be involved with our efforts are welcome to volunteer. For added flexibility, all work is done remotely-so you can work from your home, campus, or anywhere else-yet you will still have very frequent contact with the OurEarth.org leadership via conference calls and email.

What makes OurEarth.org unique and what are the advantages of getting involved? OurEarth.org is still a young organization so this is an opportunity to join on the ground floor of an up-and-coming organization. This means that you can take on leadership roles and, if you choose, have responsibilities that almost no other internships/volunteer activities can offer which can certainly be useful on a resume. Additionally, OurEarth.org involves over 50 environmental professionals, experts, and undergraduate and graduate students from around the country so this is opportunity to begin networking for a future environmental career.

For more information, please visit our website (http://www.OurEarth.org/) and review our organization's brochure (http://www.ourearth.org/students/OurEarthBrochure.pdf). There are numerous projects that you can be involved with, so if you might be interested in joining OurEarth.org, please contact John Ullman at (410) 878 - 6485 or jgu@duke.edu, to get additional information.
