SIO 119: Physics and Chemistry of the Ocean

TIDE POOL FIELD TRIP DATA: 31 January 2014

  • Temperature records from TidBit sensors, courtesy of Greg Sinnett, plus temperatures from the pier. Excel spreadsheet.
  • Meteorological data from the pier. ASCII text file. Oceanographic and meteorological data are also available from the Scripps Pier records directly. Note that data files are in GMT (8 hours later than San Diego in winter).
  • Logs from field site (temperature, YSI records, serial numbers for loggers). Excel spreadsheet.
  • Narrative observations of tide pools, dimensions, inventory of organisms. Excel spreadsheet.
  • Bottle samples for TA and DIC are in the version of the spreadsheet still to come.
  • Meteorological data from campus weather stations and radiometers maintained by Kleissl group. See http://solar.ucsd.edu/demroes/. This site includes temperature, humidity, solar radiation, rain, and wind at a number of sites around campus. Unfortunately, the closest site to the tide pools (Hubbs Hall) was not working on 31 January. Here are data for Tioga Hall, Biomedical Science Building, MWFM, Center for Magnetic Recording Research. Tioga and MWFM are closest to SIO, but at the elevation of the main campus.
