Location and travel

Most wedding-related events will be in or near Arnold, CA. Arnold is in the Central-California Sierras:

If you're coming from far away, you have a couple of choices of airport. The closest airport (2 hour drive) is Sacramento. However, if it's easier for you to get a direct flight to the Bay Area (San Francisco or Oakland), that also works (3 hour drive). Depending on everyone's schedules, we may try to rent a couple vans to bring everyone up the hill.

Driving time is 9-10 hours from San Diego

Lodging

There are a number of possibilities for local lodging (house rental, motel, hotel, bed and breakfast, ski lodge, etc.) detailed below. The most important thing to know is that this is a very popular area for winter vacationers, especially around New Year's, and many of the places below fill up FAST. Thus, if you think you'll be able to make it, we suggest making a reservation as early as possible. However, some places may not yet be taking reservations for December. We'll try to keep this page updated with the latest availability.

Where to stay: Vacation House Rentals

From December 29 to January 4, we will be staying at a geodesic dome in the Blue Lake Springs neighbourhood within walking distance of the Sequoia Woods Country Club. Several activities (brunch on Saturday December 30th, New Year's Eve party on Sunday December 31st) will be held at the geodesic dome. The Dome is on the corner of Wawona and Medinah. If you'd like to stay in a house that's walking distance away, the best thing to do is to call one of the real estate companies below and ask for houses close to that intersection. Don Fry has several on the same block, and the others probably do as well.

There are numerous houses for rent in the Arnold area, for as short a period as two nights and can be very reasonably priced for groups. We expect that a number of guests will be renting houses in groups of family or friends in the Blue Lake Springs neighbourhood.
